It’s no surprise that Fitbit have upped the stakes with their brand new smart watch, given the tremendous competition in an ever changing fitness technology market. Available to pre-order, the Fitbit Ionic comes in at a hefty £299. Pricier than it’s predecessors, is this technology heavy competitor worth the extra?

Fitbit Ionic

Containing all the features we’ve come to expect from Fitbit, Heart Rate, Sleep Stages, Steps, Distance, Floors, Calories and Active Minutes. This new device has upped its game to become an all-rounder with features to rival other devices like the apple watch.

Compatible with BlueTooth Headphones - Keeping up with the wireless trend, the Ionic can now connect to BlueTooth headphones, making your workout even more exciting than before!

Store music - Store up to 300 songs (2.5GB) on your device, and access Pandora to download playlists and find new songs.

Water Resistant - With a seamless case design the Ionic is perfect for tracking swims and can survive up to 50m in depth.

PurePulse Heart Rate monitor update - FitBit’s PurePulse now tracks more accurately than ever, and is perfect for activities like running and cycling. It also includes a brand new tri-wave sensor which helps to track oxygen saturation to monitor your oxygen levels.

Battery Life - Boasting an impressive four days of battery (10 hours whilst using the GPS) could this Fitbit live up to reality? This impressive length of time is backtracked on slightly on the website, with FitBit recommending you charge your device every few days to make the most of the features.
