Similar to human skin in its elasticity and thickness, Kinesiology tape can be used on a wide range of sports and muscoskeletal injuries as well as imflammatory conditions. When worn, the tape itself dosent restrict movement, allowing a natural range to be achieved, helping reduce the risk of over compensating on other joints.
So how does it help with swelling and bruising? Replicating the skin itself, the tape helps to lift the skin away from the swollen tissue below. This allows the lymphatic and venous drainage system to work better and help speed up recovery. This space between the skin and the swelling is known as a sub-dermal vacuum.
The tape itself can be worn for 3-4 days and can withstand showering, swimming and intense exercise drying quickly after a pat down with a towel. A huge advantage over bandage and fabric supports, which cannot get wet and need washing after exercise.
Our friends at Meglio do a great Kinesiology tape for those interested in trying it, so hop over to their site and have a look here. (P.s it's in the sale at the moment too)
This won't take a moment...
